Update:

The 6 girls are nearly 3 weeks old. Two Buff Orps, two Barred Rocks and two white rock.
They are healthy and growing like I'm sure they all do... DAILY!

Grand kids involved and names for the chickens is ongoing. So far, we have Layla, Yoko, Tanzi, and Snowflake. Two more to go. Dumplin' and a few others still on the table. Grandson's Uranus nomination was vetoed... albeit with a grin.

They are now in a large box in a sunroom with the AC vents closed. Their broody mother has been a cheap non-auto shutoff heating pad laid over a microwave rack tilted at an angle like a lean-to. Temp in the 90's so they have been fine and warm.

They got their first perch pole (a tube from the center of a bolt of fabric through the box ends) earlier today and they all jumped right up to it. Then from that to the top edge of their box. So had to lower the perch.

While they have been growing and getting used to us, the two dogs and the cat, I have been getting ready for them outside. I got the OverEZ medium coop and the Rugged Ranch tall run that fits it. A solar vent is installed on the roof. Hemp bedding on the coop floor. Solar motion sensor lights face all four directions. A solar automatic door is in the works. I'm planning to cut into the back wall of the coop and make a pull out poop board / drawer that will be below the two roost boards on that side.

I ordered a 2 gallon Rubbermaid Victory beverage cooler, but I am putting a nipple contraption in the place of the spigot. Started some fodder trays, too just to see how that works out. Picture is of the nipple waterer gizmo hanging on a fodder tray... just because it can.

In the planning stages for their feeder, a dust bath tub, etc. etc.

I'll do more pictures later... and maybe some threads of what is working out and what fails, too.
