Hello, I'm Nola Train and I'm in SW OR. Just received my 3rd batch of chickens from the hatchery and this time I ordered 50! Time to refresh the flock.
I've owned chickens since 2002 when I brought some home from the local feed store...now they make my back yard a happy place. My youngest daughter, we refer to as a "Chicken Whisperer," because she can catch any of them and has named them all. Before I brought chicks home for the first time I read a few books on the subject and tried to educate myself best I could. Now when I have a question, I try and find the answer online...I've had a few situations that I've had to read up on before...
I also homeschool my 4 kids.
I think I could be given blame/credit for a few other flocks in my community because there are some that decide to get their own flock after seeing ours
Our poultry is free-range in our 3/4 acre back yard all day, but they do get shut in at night so they don't get eaten by nasty predators.
Glad to be part of the forum.
