swallowing snails whole

My ducklings are going to town on the snail and slug population...how is it that they are able the swallow snails? I watch them pick up and chase them around the patio and today I actually watched a duck eat a snail whole! I watched nervously waiting to see if it would choke on it, but the duckling didn't seem fazed. How in the heck to they do it?!

How ducklicious! Don't worry, my drake swallows mice in one piece. They know what fits their system, so don't sweat it.

Look at it this way.....take a large bite of a sandwitch and ill bet you can swallow it being as your neck muscles have alot more room then you think....same as animals. my duck swallowed a huge peice of apple and i was like omg.....she just looked at me like...what are you stareing at? Im not choking

my ducks swallow whole mice and toads sometimes. its interesting to watch em chase em around haha
