Same reason that a Pitbull is no match for an Aussie in a field.if swans could really kill a raccoon why wasn't it dead in the pen with them?
Swans have been known to kill foxes, and if it feels threatened, they have very powerful wings that can do some damage to a raccoon attacking it.I can and I'd like to!

Hey, a four pound duck struck my forearm while I was gathering eggs and it HURT! Not for very long, and it didn't leave a bruise, but I can imagine that the injury from a wing goes up as a square of the animal weight. There's at least one video on line of a grown man getting his ass kicked by a swan.Swans have been known to kill foxes, and if it feels threatened, they have very powerful wings that can do some damage to a raccoon attacking it.
I have ducks too and they can be fierce when sitting on eggs! I love waterfowl, especially swans. I’m always around them and their babies and have never been attacked. They know I’m not a threat. Swans are big but there are ways to stop them from harassing and attacking.Hey, a four pound duck struck my forearm while I was gathering eggs and it HURT!
