Swap Meet In Ohio Sept 27!! I had a great time!!!

Yaay! A swap would be fun! I've never been to one, and I don't have much right now I want to part with, but I'm just getting started. I trade Dannon yogurt for Ameraucana eggs from a neighbor, and I plan on marketing them to support my Serama habit. I also have bubble wrap and styrofoam boxes galore, in case we can swap more than just birds.

I'm in the same boat with everyone else, new. That means I don't have anything extra yet, but I'm definitely interested in getting something started and I'd like to think that soon I'll have some extra stock. Sounds like great fun and of course you're close to me, since I live in Wilmington.

Well I think we would have to get a lot of advertising started, plan it for either this fall or next spring or both. Get the word out, figure out how much to charge for vendors to set up, and advertise advertise advertise to get as many vendors and buyers as possible to make it a hit! I think if you set a "cheaper" price for vendors you should have more vendors willing. You will have to check with your local laws to make sure it isn't against any regs they have in place to have something like this. Start posting ads on CL get some people who want to set up. Find some food vendors too who would want to set up, a good swap always needs good food! Also find out how to rent port-a-potties people will need a place to pee. You could even do a deal where if said vendor advertises in their local paper their vendor fee is waived, only 1 per paper though so it would be first come first serve(they would have to have proof).... Just some Ideas to throw out there...if I think of anything else I'll let ya know!

Edited to add, you also can charge admission for shoppers... usually it is like $1 person or so much a car load...

I would start by contacting whatever area you are going to set this up at to see if you need permits for anything and also see if you have to be covered by insurance. Also contact some of the fairgrounds about donating space on there property so you won't have to rent something. Weran truck and tractor pulls for years and found out alot of good info on how to get things donated rather then pay out of pocket for them. With it being a swap alot will fall under your farm regulations. Just a suggestion.

Count me in! I have a pair of Golden Campines (12 weeks old) and a few cochins that I was going to list on Craigslist, but I'll hold off if you think you'll be getting this together anytime soon.

Heh, maybe I'll even hatch a few new peeps.
