SWAWDUST FOR MONTH OLD CHICK BEDDING

I use all shaving for my chickens, it works great. I used to use sawdust, but it didn't have the smell, it clumped in big chunks, stunk, didn't absorb moisture, etc. I still use the free sawdust from the amish because there is no way I could afford to fill a 16x30 barn with shavings that are $5 a bag.

I go to TSC and buy the big bales of horse bedding or pine shavings. They are a much bigger shaving then the ones from Walmart and the chicks do not try to eat them, it is only 5.00 for a big bale that will fill the floor of my coop and it is good smelling and I have not had to change the bedding in at least a month or more. It also does not seem to get wet as easily as the Walmart bedding and all I do is fluff it up every few days and sprinkle a bit more DE on it. I found out today that TSC will deliver it to me if I order online and I am planning to buy about 25 or 30 bales at a time and not have to worry about going to get it from now on. Trudy
