Yes, John my baby is starting to get green feathers just like that on her/his (unsure right now) wings. I'm so curious to find out whether we have a boy or a girl! I'm not sure what the size for this breed is supposed to be but she is keeping up with my mallards size wise. They are 3 1/2 weeks old now and she is starting to turn white on her breast and get the little speckled black dots. Do you happen to know if they fly or if they will stay put?

Swedish? Yes, they will stay put because they're too heavy to fly.

Hello! We think that Daffy is a black swedish duck...when can I tell boy or girl? S/he is about 6 weeks old now, this was taken last week. We have since developed greenish-sheen feathers on the head and wings.



Also, will she every be friendly? Aflac, the Pekin, will let you cuddle...but Daffy has clawed the heck out of me on numerous occasions...

Hello Everyone! So excited to find a Swedish Duck thread! I adopted two ducklings a couple of months ago. One turned out to be a runner, Rachel, and the other duckling is a Swedish named Raylan. The first picture is from a couple of weeks ago. I am still trying to determine the accurate gender of Raylan. He/she has some green feathers on head and wings. I will have to post some recent pictures since they have grown up so much.

Here is a few pictures of our Swedish blues. They grow so fast. Seems like it was only yesterday they were ducklings swimming in the tub. Now they are roving the yard eating bugs and grass.

Same here, as our Pekin passed and our Blue Swedish will be lonely once the Canada Geese leave (the goslings are growing fast!). Anyone?

I have two beautiful ducklings. About two months old. Losing their final bits of down and starting to get blood feathers in. Just curious though, they're both very dark with white bibs, so I'm just assuming they're both drakes... or will the coloration change? Haven't been sexed so like I said I'm just assuming they're both males.
