Swedish ducks

ive had all three and the swedes are definatly noisier than anything but i feel they are the calmest...but the harlequins are so jumpy and the campbells are just like whatever so id go with swedes for their personality if nothing else

I have a small flock (2 drakes, 2 ducks, need to rehome one of the drakes as they're beating up the poor girls) that are mixed Swedish. They mutter a lot, but it's low volume unless one annoys another, then the volume goes up for a couple of minutes, "blah blah quit it" and then it quiets back down. The males are dark, with white throat/chest markings, but have bright green heads and blue bands on their wings. The girls pop up into a runner stance off and on, and are tan with white. They're molting at the moment (I just got them, and between the move/change in feed, and having too many males, they've been off laying for the last 1.5 weeks... :-( ) hopefully they'll get back to business soon (I think I found a couple of shell-less egg remnants in their pen this morning, so hopefully they'll be on to laying eggs again soon). In any case, nice to meet you folks...

I love our Swedes but the hens are REALLY noisy at times..... The Drake, Lars, just kind of rasps along ...... The hens, Mona, Edna, and Tillie are VERY vocal... The drake is the one with the green bill. Edna is the tan duck, and the other two are only to be told apart by spots on their backs. They are generally a bit skittish but will come for food & treats.

Shep is bringing them to the house and out of the cucumber patch.....

They are 4+ months old now, and just started to lay regularly. We get one egg one day and two the next. The eggs are medium size and occasionally

We got them in April at TSC and they were healthy and lively from the beginning...... They bonded with our Border Collie Shamus (Shep)..... When he isn't to be seen they go looking for him. At times they will stand at the back door and quack like crazy until he comes and goes outside with them....

Napping under Shamus's watch....
