I,m in Sweden visiting my in-laws and I was just trying to figure out what kind of chickens they have. This is a realy big rooster and is not aggressive at all. I believe that her white chickens are leghorns not sure what kind the old grey one is. The white ones were gotten from an egg farm. I was told that the egg farm keeps their chickens for one year and then they sell them because their production falls. During that time the chickens are inside a building where the light is controlled so that day and night come twice in a day inorder to trick the chickens into laying more.

I looked through the breed chart but could not determine the roosters breed. Any help would be great!

Well he appears to be a Crele color on blue, or chocolate/fawn?.. And possible orpington blood but other than that i'd say probably a cross. Not one for production breeds but he's nice.

He almost looks like my Golden Cuckoo Maran's roo.... but mine has a better barring pattern throughout.

Could be.. I have problems being able to tell "stocky" (bigstocks, production, heavy, etc) breeds from each other.. Especially from another country.

ETA: after looking closer he appears to have feathered legs, so could very well be part Marans if not a marans?
