i thought she was until i went to collect eggs and she was in one of the boxes i reached into the one next to her and she pecked me

there was an egg laid by one of my girls in the box with her and she tucked it under her. would be normally be

if she was going broody for the first time but right now i really dont want

i would have to put in the house when the cooler weather starts.

She's not necessarily broody. I have several hens who will almost take your hand off it you even think about reaching in their nests, but aren't the broody type. Some are just very protective of their nests while they're on them.
