Sweet PDZ & DE? nest box?

I didn't think about rain getting into the pdz. I'm thinking of going karens route of 1/4" roughly on floor of DE. 1/2" of pdz then 4" of shavings in the coop

On your floor - do you have just ground or bare flooring/plywood/subfloor? Linoleum?

Then you're placing the DE, shavings, PDZ, and then more shavings or do I have that incorrect?

I have a plywood with plastic on top

Thin layer of de on bottom
1/2” if pdz
4” shavings on top

my coop is only a 5x8 I feel its to small for a poop tray. so I just figured all pdz but I could do shavings and pdz I guess. I just figure all pdz and done. easier to scoop out if no shavings mixed in???

My coop is about 6x5 and I do poop trays.
Wouldn't consider having a coop without them---they make a crappy job so much easier.
