Sweet PDZ for chicks brooder

Hello, so I will be getting Silkie chicks and for there shavings it would be nice if I could use sweet PDZ without having to mix it with anything do you guys think it will be fine?

I tried some of it, and it's really dusty at their level and activity. And they kept eating it. I'd say don't do it.

I've used it, works great.
Best used under paper towels for the first few days,
and put their feed and water on something solid.
Disclaimer, I move them out to the coop with shavings after a week or two.
