Sweet Pea and the pecking order

Are the SLW panting?
Might try letting the SLW range for a day, before letting SP out.
Thanks for the advice! Yes, it's pretty hot here in Arizona, still hitting gate 106s(oh joy). The SLWs are in a decent sized coop under a tree. My friend had 6 girls in it at one time. SP has a large coop and run, so they will all be able to hang there together once they are integrated.

Too late to worry about isolating the new hen you picked up. Quarantine is a good practice when you bring home a new bird.
Start over meant just what you did separate them. Let them see each other. Safely.
A pen within the pen is a nice way to do that.

I would be inclined to let all 3 out into the yard, that would be a somewhat "neutral" territory. You will be able to tell if the SLW are going to target SP or not. I would expect some posturing, chasing and a little pecking, but you never know how these things will go. I would also do it for a couple of hours early in the morning since your temps are so high during the day - maybe a few days have morning yard time with each other.

Let us know how it goes:) Integration can be a challenge.

I decided to wait for another week before I open the door. I moved the girls into an old run today so they could have a new place to play but would still be in a fenced area. Salt and Pepper are chatting with SweetP, so hopefully they will have it all figured out when they are allowed to roam the field.
They did have a moment of who's the queen through the fence. I think SweetP won that encounter as Salt backed down.
Thanks again for all your help!

LOL Great photo! Yes, it seems that SweetPea may have won that one. There will be likely be more of that to come. It will be interesting to see how this goes. Thank you for the update.
