Sweet peal toxic to chickens?

I think sweet peas are safe. I read that garden pea bushes are used as forrage for livestock, so I fed my chicken the pea bushes after I harvested the pods. They loved them! The bushes smelled really sweet when I pulled them up.

Sweet peas are related to bush peas so I think you're fine.

we have tons of wild sweet peas on our hill.. we open the seed pods and the chickens race all over trying to catch the little peas as we drop them on the drive way.. it is hysterical.. and they seem to love them.. no one dead yet

Mine ate all my sweet peas this spring. They thought they were delicious and can't wait until I plant more in the fall.

Some (not all) beans are toxic if not cooked but I believe all peas are fine.

Sweet peas do have toxins in all of the plant. As do most of the plants in the genus Lathyrus (includes sweet peas). But I don't know if it affects chickens or what quantity they would have to ingest to cause a problem.
