Good morning all!
I am new to this forum, but not new to chickens! I was sent by my dear friend, who is also The Great Derp's mom (Nambroth/Jen), to see if anyone can help!
I work at a small animal center in South Florida. We are cutting back on a lot, and many animals are being re-homed. To my great disappointment, the poultry is not getting the same love the livestock is, and are slated for dinner.. in the next week or so!!
I KNOW people eat chickens, duh, but these are sweet birds who were given to us by people who wanted a home for their animals to retire on, not to be eaten. I do not want to fail them! I can't begin to imagine how I would feel if my beloved pet had been killed!
We have about 5 that need homes. These birds vary in their tolerance to other roosters, but are proven good with hens, and other species such as turkeys, guinea fowl, and water fowl. They are NOT people-aggressive at all, and in fact some follow me around the yard, walking in circles and talking to me the whole time. Some will just run to greet me before going back to guarding their hens and finding them treats. Most are Americaunas or some Easter Egger variant.
If you think you can help, please let me know!
I can be emailed at ashley4seabirds AT gmail.com! Thanks my chicken-lovin peeps!
