Sweetened Condensed Milk tastes so good

Alright, I just boiled two cans of this.

This is my first time. Now, how long should I wait to open it? I want to now but suppose I can't.

Also, is it alright to leave the other can unopened for awhile....like to use another day?

I kinda figured you should be able to, but then I almost imagined it starting to crystallize or something.

I know I am really eager to taste this!!! The apples are waiting.

I have a question. The website for a brand of SCM says to boil the can for 3 to 4 hours. I have a friend that just told me her dad made it for her a long time ago and he boiled it for hours....so is 1.5 hours really long enough?

I opened one of my cans and it wasn't done. It was a blond color....not a nice, rich, caramel. So, the other can is back in the boiling water.

Same here. I think next time I'll let it go another hour. It was very tasty though!! Something I will certainly do again.

I used to make cakes and I make this one cake which everyone, and I mean everyone goes crazy for it.

I only make it on special occasions because it is a little involved but it has the sweetened condensed milk. It is called a 3 milk cake. So good and moist because I poke holes in the cake when it is done and pour the condensed milk all over it and let it set overnight in the refrigerator.

3 milk cake sounds YUMMY! I'm envisioning that evil coffee cup cake recipe from a different thread with SCM oozing out of the top of it now.
