Sweetened Condensed Milk tastes so good

Quote:
Oh, this isn't about price. Sweetened condensed milk is NOT evaporated milk (and isn't cheap either). It can't be used as a substitute....you don't reconstitute it. No....it is a precious gem of a food product that stands alone. Thick and sweet and like a can of candy. You can't use any regular fresh milk product in the place of it either (though I believe someone told how to make it on here).

That said, I HATE milk. I can, however, tolerate the taste of reconstituted powdered or evaporated milk.

ok if you like to make the dulce de leche and do not want to spend all that time and energy making it try the above that I posted earlier ..it works I finally tried it myself ... same wonderful taste ..perfect texture ...color was right ...and I can not make it anymore because it is good for an extra 5lbs of fat on my body ..I could not stop eating it it is so good on ice cream

I am stunned it was so easy to do in the microwave and had always done the long on the top of the stove thing in the past ..there is absolutely NO guess work with this recipe!

try it you will love the results

signed a true SCM addict

btw I love scm poured on home made bread (not sure I mentioned that)

that microwave recipe sounds too easy.........now I will explode if I gain any more weight. I like the old recipe..on the stove...it is too time consuming so I won't make it

oh yeah, I just bought MORE! --- making my son's favorite treat -- 'Rocky Road' --

1 can scm
1 stick butter

melt together and then stir in 1 jar dry-roasted peanuts and 1 pkg. miniature marshmallows -- mix together until marshmallows 'sort' of melt -- at least get 'gooey' -- hard to resist --
