Sweeter Heater Vs. Brinsea Ecoglow and Why?

I can't ever find an answer on here either. Some have used the Sweeter Heater and I found a few posts on it and they liked it. I can't find any info on the Eco-Glow though.
Neither seems like it would give off enough heat for baby chicks in a barn, even my insulated brooder room can get very chilly.

I finally went with the Premier Heat Lamps but so far I don't like them. The chicks go under my other heat lamps more than the Premier. I suppose it doesn't give off as much heat because it is too cone shaped whereas the big metal caps let more heat into a bigger area and I can put it closer to them.
I even tried wooden boxes around them but they say they are still pretty chilly and these are feathered chicks about 2-3 mths old.

I still worry over fires in the barn but what is one to do?

I don't know very much about the Ecoglow, but I have 2 Sweeter Heaters. I don't use them for chicks..I don't think they put out enough heat...I use heat lamps with regular 75-100 watt household bulbs for newly hatched up to just fully feathered, depending on the weather/season.

The Sweeters are for my teenage & adult birds when it's really cold out. The birds have to get right underneath them to feel any warmth. I hang them about 2 feet above the floor. At night, they sleep under them. These are silkies & showgirls...they sleep in a furry pile!

They are also available with brackets for wall mounting.

For what it's worth...the Sweeters are super safe to use, BUT they just don't put out the heat that a heat lamp will. All they do is just sort of take the edge off IF the bird is directly beneath it. I'm sure the Ecoglow works the same way but on a smaller scale. My Sweeters are 36" long I believe & cost $120 each.

That's what I was afraid of, the cost vs. how well they worked to keep the chicks warm. I do like the savings by not using as much wattage, but if there isn't enough heat for them, then I guess it really isn't worth the cost.

I will probably stick with the regular brooder lamp, it's under $10.00 here and it can use different watt light bulbs.

As I said in the other thread I love my Eco-Glow so far. I also bought several premiere heat lamps and I really don't like those. There's no reflector, so all the heat appears to go upwards, not down towards the birds.. plus they are HUGE and don't fit well in the things I use as brooders. I have one in the barn for emergencies.

The concept for the EcoGlow is that it is a radient pad, set to simulate the same thing as when chicks are under a real mama. There is no light under a hen, just the contact of her warm body to keep them warm. I don't have any experience with the sweeter heater, but I have had no issues at all with the EcoGlow. My chicks are 3 weeks old, and doing great. No issues so far. THis was the only choice for me as my brooder pen is in a feed room in my barn where my horses are. I was taking no chances with heat lamps. Just not an option. The biggest thing I love about the EcoGlow is also the fact that from day 1 the chicks have learned to sleep when the sun goes down. When it is setting, I notice they seem to slow down, and once it gets dark, boom, under the EcoGlow they go, tucked in and ready for sleep!

Good Luck!

I looked into the EcoGlow when I was first researching. It is labeled for use with ambient temps above 50F. I was putting chicks in an outdoor brooder in spring when temps regularly drop into the 30s so that wouldn't work for me. The primary market for this product is people who will raise their chicks in their house. Under those conditions (and especially if you're using a plastic storage bin that is easily overheated by a traditional heat lamp) it's perfect.
