Sweetgum wood chips

Any idea if sweetgum wood chips would be safe in my coop?
Should be OK, not toxic or sappy.
Tho a softwood would be better for coop shavings, IMO.
Would work good in a run.
But maybe depend on your expectations for them are.

Will you be chipping them yourself?
Are you new to chicken keeping?
