yep, it's bumblefoot. i just had 2 of mine culled this morning due to bumblefoot. i was going to try to treat the girls. but i did research on it and what i learned is that it's caused my a cut to the foot and it gets infected. the thing that made me not try to treat it is that it also said that hens who get it, will probably get it again and that it's an autoimmune disorder. but who knows, you could try to treat it and let us know the outcome. i would be interested in that. i also read that it can be contagious to the others. but maybe someone on BYC who knows alot about this disorder can be of more help. i'm just repeating what i read online.

WAIT!! i just read a reply on one of my other posts about me wanting to cull for bumblefoot (which it's too late now...) and heres what they said:

First word of advice- Do not cull for bumblefoot! I don't know where you got your info from but it was not correct. The only time it returns is if it wasn't treated properly/fully in the first place. Bumblefoot can be difficult to fully clean out, but once the bumble is completely removed it is gone. It will only return if there is a new injury and subsequent infection.

Bumblefoot can be treated. Some people do soaks, some excisions of the "kernel" of infection in the foot. Do a search on Bumblefoot surgery and Bumblefoot treatment. I've never dealt with it, but a lot of people here have. There's a lot of information on here about it. It's definitely bumblefoot though. You'll need to cut out where that black scab is on the underside of the foot and clean it out. Please search for it though and do what others have for successfully treating it, since I've never dealt with it. Good luck!
