One of my dogs got their mouth on a chick. It happened super fast but luckily both my husband and I were out there and she immediately dropped the chick. At first the chick was clearly super stressed but it started eating and drinking again that night. I checked and there were tiny teeth marks/ puncture wounds under her wings and a bit of swelling. A day or two later she was looking less puffy and stressed and returned to her normal self. This is my favorite chick and she flies up to the rim of the brooder when I come in so she started that again. But the swelling is still there and maybe getting worse. It's on one side only but basically spread over that entire side of the body. I imagine it must be fluid? When I noticed it the first night I thought it was air under her skin--like her lungs were leaking or something. Anyway, the dog incident was last Saturday so it's been 4.5 days. Has anyone ever seen swelling like this? Is there anything I can do?

well you can put ice on her swollen side.It happened to my turken hen.[She was a pullet at the time]My dog didn't exactly bite her just held her in his mouth.[shes fine now just not a big fan of dogs]

p.s.the bite marks might be infected.Try gently poking her were it is swollen. If she starts freaking out when you poke her in a certain place[under the wing for example]see if it looks red or oozy.if nothing works and you love her dearly enough their are backyard vets that do chickens.
