Hi I have a silkie hen, firstly she hardly ever lays eggs but is only 2/3 years old last year after laying two eggs within a week she was really sick looking and I managed to bring her back, this year she laid maybe 3 eggs in total and now she seems very lethargic tail and wings down still eating but has a squishy and swollen area under her vent you cant notice it without feeling it no runny poo or feathers missing around her bum so I am thinking an egg rupture or something inside her I tried Warm bath twice now and hasn't helped its been like this for over a week now any help is really appreciated, I hatched her myself and am attached really don't want fluffy to die! 😕

Can you insert a clean finger inside her vent to feel for a stuck egg? She may be suffering from a reproductve disorder. Has she ever gone broody? Can you get her eating and drinking some water with electrolytes? Offer some wet chick feed and a little scrambled bits of egg, tuna, or canned cat feed.

She has been eating and drinking OK but just looks lethargic and stays still with tail down in one area for some time, honestly she's a bantam silkie hen so I thought of putting a finger in but was afraid I would hurt her but will try tomorrow if you think it's OK I live in Ireland so it's 11pm here now, she was broody a few times last year as silkies always are but so far this year she hasn't been yet
