So, I have a swing in the run.
It hangs from the roof, with rope hooked to a scrap of plywood.
Let me tell you why this was a BAD idea!!
Twice now, when a hen decided to launch her hefty body from this swing, the swing was shoved back, and when it swung forward, cracked me straight in the knee cap!!
I’m smart enough that I actually let this happen twice, and it got me in the exact same place. Wowsers!! That smarted!

I’m going to try bringing down two boards from the rafter to keep it from moving that far up, and then using the rope so that only the lower portion of the swing can move.

Just thought I’d share this flaw in my design.
If you have any better ideas, let me know! I don’t think my knee can take much more!

Sorry for your knee, I'm prone to injuring myself on random things. Sounds like you are on the right track to make it not swing so much. If you create a hinge point somewhere between the ceiling and swing, that should solve it. You shouldn't need to move anything, just add a piece of wood or something between the swing lines to create that new hinge point.

You'd have to lower the hinge point and eliminate it swinging from the 'ceiling' attachment.
..or you could just pay more attention to avoid being hit my a moving object ;) :D
I always wonder how often that would take out a chickens head if it didn't duck in time.

Same!! I’m over here crying and it’s just a knee... I’ve been fortunate that one of my girls hasn’t been clocked in the head!!
