We got our first pheasant at an auction a few weeks ago...he's a beauty! We weren't sure what kind he was, but after looking extensively on the internet we found out that he's a Swinhoe Pheasant. He's currently in an indoors aviary with a ladder to perch on and some brush. We are feeding him game feed. Working on building a new house for him this weekend! Got some great ideas from the other thread about pheasant set ups. If anyone has any tidbits or tips about these pheasants let us know! We will also be looking for a female for him once his new pen is set up, if anyone in the area raises them!

I'm looking to, have 2 extra males with no gals................

Just picked up a pair of these at a swap from two different guys. The one guy had a trio but let me buy one if the females from him fir my male I had bought earlier in the day. They are in a pen with a pair of pied peafowl right now doing good. They are so beautiful in the sunlight!!!

Here is my swinhoe hen she is setting on 9 eggs she been setting about a week

I would not keep them in there long I had a swinhoe male kill my India blue breeder male 2 years ago and they been in the pen with each other for 2 years

wow a swinhoe male killed a pea fowl.. thats one bold Lil pheasant..

i know my Edwards are very similar in size to swinhoe's, the edwards will outright attack me when i go to take there eggs from the nests. i have to try and trick them with treats.
i put the treats inside there Lil houses and when they go in, i very quickly get the eggs, but sometimes they will come after me anyway. the male always flys for my face the female she will attack my hand, it amazing how these exotic breeds defend there nests..outside of breeding season the Eddy's are very laid back birds..
