Switching foods?

When switching from chick starter to grower or grower to layer should you switch gradually or just all at once?

I guess I did it all at once; I used up all the chick starter and then just started using the grower feed. I've done that twice and all my chickens have survived.

I usually mix the last of the starter with the layer so they get used to it. I do that when switching any of my animals feed as I dont want any stomach problems.

I favor a gradual transition. Mix the old feed 50/50 with the new feed until the old is used up.
