My girls have been on chick starter since birth, but now it's time for them to start laying, so can I mix Layena with the rest of my starter, or should I dump the starter and go with pure Layena?
Thanks.

I usually mix it for a while to get them used to the new food

That's the same thing I did. With the starter/grower I had about 3 inches in the feeder and put 2 big scoops of the layer on top. That way if sorta filtered down and wasn't an abrupt change. It seems to have worked. They all are digging in.

Good advice. Thank you very much.

Thank you. I know I've heard 19-20 weeks is usual laying time frame. I didn't want to buy another bag og starter feed when they were geting close to laying age then have to have both starter and layer around at the same time. I know my RIRs should lay first and me EEs will take longer to lay. We don't go through food quickly with the 8 chickens we have. I was thinking of buying layer food when we get food again (in another month likely).
