Switching Grit

I have four 5 week olds and three 4 week olds and I am getting ready to finish the coop. They are currently on starter/grower and chick grit but they will soon be moved (hopefully by Friday) to a coop/run with sand. Will they be able to get enough grit that is the right size or will I still need to offer chick grit?

They should be fine with just the sand if they have access to it often. I actually raised some chicks on sand this year, and I never had to feed them grit.

Will the sand grains be big enough for full grown birds?

They will scratch down to the dirt and get what ever grit they need.
