our quail are 4 weeks old, and i know that you mix the adult food into the starter food but when do i do this? should we start now? i'm just slightly worried since the adult food is less protein and bigger sizes than the crumbles they're eating.. we need to move them outside soon but it will have to wait another week! hopefully they can help supplement protein with the bugs. should i wait until we move them outside to start switching?

I would wait until they're 7-8 weeks old. They may start laying at 6 weeks, but they aren't fully adult until about 12 weeks.
okay. would i start to provide oyster shell or crushes eggshells when they begin to lay?

I just slowly mix more and more of the adult food in with their baby food. It works fine for me.
