I just switched mine to layer pellets yesterday. They turned 17 weeks. I also got 1 egg 2 days in a row from one of my hens!! I am not sure which one laid it?? I have 24 hens and 3 roos together. I was hesitant to get pelleted layer, I wasn't sure if they all would eat it...but the pellets are small. No problems, gobble it down. They don't waste it like crumbles!! I also made a 4'' pvc tube feeder for oyster shell. On the bag I think it says at 14 weeks switch, I waited a bit longer. I buy Nutrena naturewise layer pellets, I like their products

I am like you, I haven't had chickens for oh my gosh 20 years!! I have been wanting them again. I broke my leg in 7 places from a horse accident. When I was able to walk/hobble again, I ordered chickens!!! They gave me something to care for and to keep my mind off of ''my'' problems, I am so glad that I got them!!!!! They are very well and healthy and they helped me get well and walking. I must have made 5000 trips to the barn to care for them as chicks!!! Sorry for the rambling!! HA!

It's ok I ccan understand about the rambling I do that too. I have breast cancer and having the chickens relaxes me and helps keep me focused on other stuff while I wait to start Chemo(5 months worth too:() I think after this bag of chick feed is done I'll get the laying mash and that will probably get things going sort to speak. Ihope your eg is better soon and i would love to see your "girls" in the barn. Iposted over in introductions about having a Roo in the flock you can see my girls there.
Take care,
Nina
