switching to nipple waterer - in this heat!

I have read as many as 20 or 30 birds per nipple or as few as 62. When I had 35 chickens, I had 2 nipples and it worked out fine. I made it 4 nipples and it was even better.

I've started my flock out at only 3 girls, and can only get up to 6 according to my county's regulations. Chicken math may make that final number hazy

but I should be fine no matter what - I got one of the buckets with the 4 nipples on the bottom. Plenty of water for everyone!

Thanks, y'all!!!

My girls were raised up with a bucket to drink out of but when they would scratch they would get their water nasty! I had to refill and clean their water at least three times a day. Finally I got their coop built and ready for them so I purchased a 5 gallon bucket and nipples. I put the nipples on the bucket and filled it and hung it high enough for them. I also left a pan of water on the ground just in case they didn't catch on yet. Well they caught on quickly and three days later I didn't need to keep a pan of water in there. I'm so happy with the bucket and nipples. So much cleaner!!!
