I've got a hen with a swollen abdomen. I gave her an espsom salt very wam soak yesterday and I checked her with a lubricated glove for egg bound and I don't think it's that as I did find an egg in her box yesterday that had been crushed and was sitting in a puddle of "egg" but looked to be in tack.
This is the hen that I've given to my overly zealous Polish Cockerell who has been very busy with her for the last two weeks since I moved her to his side of the coop.. ( was having dual rooster blues)... I have read it can be "gyno" related but I'm at a loss as to how to treat or what to do and afraid it could be ascites. My Cockerell was totally smitten with this hen and has been behaving strangley before I noticed this by getting in the nesting box himself and also getting in on top of her. I think he knows she is sick.. he is another story ( unending one). Any advice would be appreciated. This is my first rodeo! Thanks in advance.
