A few weeks ago I noticed my bantam pekin cockerel had a red, swollen bum area which had poop stick on to it. There were some tiny maggots in the poop and we cleaned it up. We checked again recently and it was the same again, as he was swollen around his bum and there was a white/yellowish puss around it. We haven’t been able to get rid of it all as it is solid. And now we’ve noticed his is unable to poop easily which I’m worried is because of the swelling, what can I do to help him?!

I would definitely soak him in a warm Epsom tub bath to relax the area for 15-30 minutes. Clean the area well, picking out all the maggots, removing the surrounding feathers if necessary to scrub that area clean. I would spray Vetericyn on the area. Post picks after cleanup to see if there is any inner damage. Good luck!!!!
