TRying to diagnose here ..could use some input. She is 7 months old, Blue Egger (Ameracuana). I have 15 chickens in this coop and run and on Tuesday someone laid a soft egg. I didnt think anything of it but then this am I saw this !! I thought maybe prolapse and there was a shell in there but I had her crated all day, she pooped and laid a perfect egg. She has a little bit of feathers missing from her one leg too. NO broken skin, nothing oozing. It is all swollen below the vent. Her belly feels ok, crop feels ok. Other than being annoyed that I have separated her from the others she seems fine. I soaked her in an epsom salt bath with lavendar and oregano oil, she did really well. But I have no idea what I am treating, if anything?? It is still soft and squishy and looks swollen?? BUt maybe this is just what a normal chicken butt with no feather looks like? LOL?? Any input is appreciated. Thank you

Very curious about how this hen fared ... I have one very similar. I am thinking her belly feels 'liquid'... hoping it isn't water belly. I read it cannot be cured. Did you hen survive and thrive after this incident?
