Swollen crop on baby bantam

Someone help! They have wood shavings, water, and crumble food. It is a baby bantam about 1-3 weeks old. Breed and gender is unknown. What could be wrong?

Does the crop feel hard or squishy? Does the chick smell foul at all? Pooping okay?

Mostly hard but a little squishy

It could have eaten a wood chip. I would give a small bit of coconut oil and massage the crop a bit (don't push up, you'll aspirate her). But I'm sure others can also chime in with better ideas.

Thanks, we don't have coconut oil, is there a possible substitute?

Vegetable oil but extra care must be taken to avoid aspiration. Do not give until after we have seen this chick please.

We're not sure how she normally acts because we bought her from the store only today to see if we could help her(or him, we're not sure). We only took her because we don't think she would survive the store with any condition

What was her behavior in the store?
Is she flipping on her back and not able to right herself?


She looks like she pigged out. Maybe pull feed away for a few hours to see if it goes down at all.
