Hello everyone, out little chicken has a red eye, she almostalways keeps it closed, although sometimes she opens it. It started maybe 3 days ago, i have been cleaning the eye everyday, but i dont know why this couldve happened. Is this some sort of a respitory infection? She is acting fine, eating, drinking, bathing, running around with her siblings. The other eye is okay. What can i do to help her, and what couldve caused it to happen?

Usually this conjunctivitis, swelling, and eye drainage or bubbles is due to mycoplasma (MG) a chronic respiratory disease. But scratching her eye or a peck/eye infection might also be possible. If she was mine, I would treat her with Tylosin in her water 1 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days, or Tiagard/Denagard. Continue to clean her eye twice a day with saline and apply a small dot of either Terramycin or plain Neosporin/triple antibiotic ointment into the eye. Here is some reading about MG:

Thank you, we gave her antibiotics (and will continue to do so), and we also started giving our whole flock vitamins to boost their respitory sistem
