swollen eye

My Barred Rock, Kate, is 6 months old and just started laying about a month ago. This week she has developed a swollen eye and yesterday a rough patch appeared at the back base of her comb. She is still laying and is in good spirits. The swelling does not appear to be tender. Any ideas?

I am going through the same issue. My chicken is much better now. I used Neosporin ( without pain ingredient). I put a small amount of it INSIDE her eye 2 or 3 times each day. Be sure to open her eye as you put the ointment in. You can buy Neosporin at CVS. Keep us posted. I must learn how to upload pictures for any emergencies. They really help don't they?
