My buff orp has a badly infected eye. Haven't yet worked up the courage to Lance it, but have been treating it with an ophthalmic terramycin 2/day.
Have read a lot of threads about similar stuff, but not as many with good outcomes documented from specific treatments.
If this gel does not it work in going to have to try something else, and what I've seen thus far is Tylan. Will have to figure out where to get it, and go with it.
Hx: It slowly crept up and then quickly got bad. No real drainage from nose at all, I initially tried the vet Rx thing in the mouth, but don't quite know that I did it properly and also saw no result. Next day was the terramycin, and this is day 3 (end day of terramycin) of treating her.

Any advice is welcome, especially if you've gone through anything similar.

Ty so much.

Wow... No, I haven't. I'll try, but dang, looks like that chicken's already missing her eye ball... There was some crusty, so I'll try. Would yiuh say that's a better idea than lancing it?

No, the eye ball is not missing in the video, there's just a lot pus. There's other videos if you wish to look on youtube or want me find more for you.

I would try pressing it out first.
If there's a lot of swelling/pus involving the sinus too, then lancing may be your next step.

Ty for that video... Would seem I may need to grab the lancing materials and give it a go.... The Tylan was already on my list as of yesterday seeing no real improvement. Hen is healthy and without any symptoms of illness.... Broody, so was probably lacking nutrients to fight anything quite as boldly as usual, but she's in a dog kennel to break that.

Do you have Tylan on hand? From what I'm "hearing" Tylan50 is pretty much out of stock everywhere, normally you can get it at TSC no problem. Tylosin (Tylan) powder can still be found at bird supplies online https://www.jedds.com/shop/tylan-soluble-100-g/

Oh boy, broody and not feeling well, poor thing! I bet she's a grumbling fluff to deal with.
Keep us posted.
