3 of my chickens eyes are swollen. They are eating and drinking and acting fine. Anyone know what could be wrong. Thanks

Has there been any sneezing or anything that you’ve noticed? Bubbles in their eyes at all? Any bee hives around?

I’ve had chickens with swollen faces/eyes for 2 different reasons. 1 - there was a bees nest beside their coop and the one hen got too close and curious. 2 - mycoplasma, which I used Tylosin to treat.

I haven’t noticed any sneezing and I don’t see any bubbles around the eyes. It’s just weird it’s 3 of them two swollen around the eye and one under the eye. I do have a vet call over the phone tonight I just hope it’s not serious :(

Let us know what the vet says! I would assume it’s mycoplasma and it’s really easy to treat and clears up quickly, typically. But those are the only 2 things I have experience with, when it comes to swollen eyes/faces.

He said he’s wondering if they got stung by bees just like you said we do have ground bees I just don’t know where. The fact that their acting totally normal eating and drinking he’s not to concerned. So that’s a plus! Thank you for your help!

If it’s a bee sting it should go down in a day or so. If it persists I would consider getting Tylosin for their water. Hopefully just a sting and they’re all better by tomorrow! ❤️

Is that something I can order? Sorry first time chicken owner here 😂- thank you so much!

Thank you again I’ll get some just incase not worried about price. I really appreciate your help it’s hard where I live there’s no vets that come to your animals and no vets close that will take them on. Thankfully there’s vester to use in situations like this!

That’s how it is here too with vets. I’ve learned a lot from this site. When in doubt, or if answers are slow to come in, use the search function! It’s helped me many times! ❤️
