I had to put down my silver laced wy. roo yesterday. It was pretty sad. His foot was so swollen that he couldn't walk on it. I would have tried to help him out but my other roos were beating the feathers out of him. They just wouldn't stop. He had almost no feathers left and was always bleeding from little cuts. They wouldn't let him eat either-big bullies. Anyway I would still like to find out what might have caused this in the first place so that I can prevent/treat if I see it again. There were no outside sores or cuts or anything, it looked perfectly normal except it was 3 times bigger than normal. An ideas here?? Thanks

Did you check the bottom of his foot to see if it was bumblefoot?

Also, in the future, if you see a chicken getting picked on to the point that he/she has bald spots or blood, ALWAYS pull the injured bird and separate the bully from the flock for a few days. As long as there are bare spots on a bird, the others will continue to pick on it and possibly kill it.

From what I've read of bumble foot there should be some type of scab even if its very small. There was nothing and the swelling went a couple of inches up the roos leg, not just one bulb on his foot. Not saying it couldn't be because I have no experience with bumble foot but I would guess not.
