Yesterday morning i went to go let my rooster, Eugene, out of the coop and his face looked totally fine. I went back out a few hours later to hang with the birds and noticed his face was a bit puffy... I thought maybe he got stung by a wasp or multiple wasps because he spends a lot of time under my back porch to be in the shade (they have all day access to their coop but they all prefer to hang out under the porch like a bunch of trolls, lol) and I'm sure there's probably a wasp nest under there. So I went out last night to put them to bed and his eye on the affected side is now totally swollen shut! Even his comb is puffy!
This morning his other eye is now close to being swollen shut as well.
I gave him roughly .5 mL children’s liquid benadryl last night. I could have probably given him more but was worried about the flavoring in it. Idk if that is harmful to them or not.
I have some cephalexin 250mg/5mL also that was for my daughter. (The thick pink stuff for kids & also has some type of flavoring in it) I’m wondering also if I should give him some of that?

Usually, he will let me touch his comb but he wouldn't last night. I'm assuming he is in pain. Wondering what I can do to bring him some relief and comfort? (his mouth is open cause this is a screenshot from a video I got of him while he was eating his dinner) He doesn't have any other symptoms (no nasal discharge, etc.)He seems to be pretty alert and still has his hefty appetite. Hard to gauge his energy level since he is already a pretty lazy bird. He just kinda stands around and naps here and there. I estimate he is probably 4-5 years old. He’s still crowing (A LOT) and alert just can’t see now due to the swelling. I’m worried how I’m gonna be able to feed and water him, especially the water with the heat (I’m in FL)

He is a big and heavy bird I’d guess around 15lbs. I don’t have any way to weigh him but I know he is a heavy solid bird.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you have another rooster or hens who have pecked at his eye, wattles or comb? Are the dark areas marks or scabs? The marks could be insect bites or fowl pox, hard to tell. I would keep his eye clean and flushed with some saline or eye wash, such as Bausch and Lomb Eye Relief twice a day. Terramycin or plain triple antibiotic ointment can be applied into the eye, just a small dab twice a day. Let us know if his eye opens or he has bubbles or crusty drainage.
