I just got a chick from a breeder a couple days ago. It is a two month-old Silkie. I noticed today (it wasn't like this when I bought the chick) that on the right side, under the wing, there is this air-filled pouch-like lump. It feels like a small balloon under the skin right above the chick's hip. If I press the lump I can feel the bones underneath and what seems to be the hip socket, so I think that the hip is not dislocated but it's still possible. This chick is in with another its age and also two full grown Silkies, but I think it's doubtful that it is an injury caused by one of the others because they all seem to get along. The chick doesn't seem to be in pain either. Do you have any idea what this could be?
