We have an easter egger with an extensive history of being picked on and failed clutches in 100 degree heat. This morning, my father noticed she was acting lethargic, though she isn't a hyper bird to begin with. Recently, as in a few minutes ago, however, we noticed a bulge on her neck that feels like it's full of liquid, is soft, rubbery and bounces around like wattles would (if she had any) when she looks around. In addition to slight lethargy, she sometimes stops and makes a swallowing motion, though we haven't seen anything come up. We've taken a picture here so you can see what we're dealing with. Is it contagious, or is her history just catching up to her?
