Hi everyone one of my chicks has a pink watery eye. It seems to be swollen but not really bothering her. She isn't breathing funny or acting different. She is missing some feathers around her eye due to her scratching it. Can anyone help me? I've tried getting a picture but it's raining and they're outside still...silly chickens!

Photos will be helpful.

General eye care would be to flush the eye with saline to help remove any debris or discharge, then apply an ophthalmic ointment like Terramycin or Vetericyn.

Check her well to make sure there are no mites, lice or fleas that could be irritating the eye. She may have just gotten something in it, had a peck to the eye or she may be in the early stages of developing something else like respiratory illness.

It's been like this for about 4 days and seems to be getting better and no other symptoms so I'm being hopeful that it's not anything to do with any other illness.

Picture of good eye and bad eye so you can see the difference
