Swollen Wattle Thoughts

Hey Friends,

My oldest hen (she’s 6) has a swollen wattle. I read about fowl cholera and I don’t know if it’s looking the same as other chickens I’ve seen online. She’s pretty old and has been moving slow for the past year and she’s not getting worse with the swelling. Any thoughts? It’s just the one side.

Just for reference: we have a small flock of 8. We hatched introduced eggs in July and no other chickens have been in contact with them. We keep the coop clean and no new treats, etc. she’s still eating fine. Her tail has been droopy for the past year. Getting old.

Thanks!

Swallon wattles is a emergency of Fowl cholera ..
You need some tetracycline water soluble or oral give it for 5-7 days
Do give clean water to ur flock

I forgot to update this post. I took my old lady hen to the Avian vet. It is definitely not fowl cholera or anything else contagious. The vet even mentioned that she hasn't seen a case of fowl cholera in the 15 years at her clinic (since it's very rare).

My lady is just getting old. It might be cancer or the wattle may have been pecked and irritated. She doesn't appear to be in pain so we have left it with no treatment. It's also remained the same size.

Thanks for all your advice!
