We have a suspected cockerel that we assume is 12 weeks old and breed is unknown. Two days ago right before closing the coop, I noticed that its wing was drooping and slightly larger and upon inspecting it, I see that it's wing is swollen and there's a patch of skin with fluid. I let my mom know and while I was away, she said she drained the fluid filled patch which had clear fluid and blood and cleaned it up with antiseptic hydrogen peroxide and antibiotic ointment.
This is it now (see picture). The yellow colored parts are hard to the touch and warm. The patch is no longer pink and now a dark color and hard (I assumed scabbed from what my mom did). My mom said the fluid smelled and I agree. I don't see any ingrown feathers/feather cysts? The white bumps were feathers that I plucked out to see better.
Not sure what to do as we cannot afford a vet. The chick eats, drinks, and roosts/sleeps normally. The chick also lives with another suspected cockerel its age separated from the rest of the adult hens. My mom lets them out sometimes (I don't bc I suspect its a cockerel and don't want it eating the layer feed) so it could be an injury from something outside or the adults.
