Asking for another:
"Pretty old BR Roo, once very heavy, recently light, had been resting-sitting back on his bottom off and on for maybe six months, maybe even longer. Otherwise, he continued to walk and act normally, except for not roosting at night, sitting like a broody on the bedding, instead. I treated the flock for scaly leg mites because I thought he might have them, but none of the hens appeared to. He seemed to improve, temporarily, when I treated the last time with Ivermectin.
He's been molting throughout July. Sudden symptoms of Mareks appeared last week. No crowing, no walking, little or no eating or drinking. Though, he ate eagerly out of my hand on third day after not being able to hold his head up just the day before. No other birds have symptoms. No signs of trauma. Poop seems normal. Pastured, fed layer pellets.
I read a lot about Mareks and symptoms in the last few days. I'm not understanding how he could have Mareks, and yet no other of the twenty or so birds are showing the signs, if he began to show symptoms, (wanting to get off legs) so many months ago. "
