I bought six chicks a little over a month ago; one turned out to be a rooster so he will have to go. I do not want to offend a neighbor. I live on an acre and have an area out back that is cyclone fenced so hopefully this will keep out area dogs. I found a coop on this site that will lend itself well for converting my current dog house. The dog insists on living inside the house. I am retired for two years now and have started this chicken business as a hobby. Well five hens will not be much upkeep....will it? I have a great handyman who helps with home repairs as well as laborious yard work so he will do the heavy lifting part of building the coop. Our Oklahoma weather has had several cold spells which delayed the introduction of my chicks to the yard and temporary coop. What is the general consensus regarding the use of a pellet or BB gun for any predators? I look forward to visiting with an getting advice from your members.
