Ok haven't been on here for a while since action Jackson passed but I did adopt his whole family 7 of them beautiful Toulouse geese but I hatched one out this year it's about 7 mos old ate some rubber about a week ago how I know it started to not feel good and I administered some mineral oil low and behold it pooped out the object after not eating for three days but lots of water ate like a mad goose for a week then stopped eating totally and got weak so I blended up some chick starter non medicated with about 25 mg amoxicillin and nutridrench about one ml per two cups of mix as of two days ago goosey had blackish non solid poop I do remember when goosey got better seeing her maow down on mud when I brought outside now I thought it was upper GI tract bleeding but two days after I went light about 25ml feed three times a day it pooped a solid tarry black poop then I increased to 45ml three times today goosey took it mind you this goose couldn't even stand last night now it can but you can tell it's weak so about an hour ago it had a normal poop when I seen that I gave about 60 ml for the night feeding God I'm hoping goosey pulls through so the question is could it have been bleeding in the upper GI tract or the mud clogged it again and what I'm seeing is the result of said goose getting it outta it's system

And her name is lulu I am happy she's taking these syringes down without throwing up my biggest fear when feeding a small goose like this is asperation I'm hoping the food helps and she grows stronger day by day but we all know in the bird world it ain't easy

And for manual feeding the biggest obstacle to over come is the anxiety of the process once you've done it two to three times it becomes a much simpler process thank goose Jesus 🙏

Do you happen to have a picture of the poop? If the rubber piece was fairly pointy, yes, it may have scraped along his digestive tract resulting in subsequent bleeding. How is his stools looking now?

Just for reference, the amoxicillin dose is 57mg per pound twice a day given orally. So the 25mg that you were giving him was not enough.

Wasent pointy it was like shoe rubber it pulled apart pretty easy and was soft she's about 5 lbs she's weak but perking up with the feeding when she passed that object she got completely better then I let her outside in a pool I do remember seeing her maw down on mud which I'm thinking wasent good thus the blackish dirt like poops after giving chick starter blended with a capfull of mineral oil she pooped about 6 like that I thought it was bleeding but as of day 4 of tube feeding the poops are coming out completely normal
I will post a pic of the setup I'm using and the poop the first time I gave antibiotics in the water haven't given any yet in fear of thrush I have been giving probiotics in the mix too she's weak and a lil shakey but is definitely noticable after tube feeding for a few days she can now stand which I'm hoping is a good thing

Glad to hear she's doing better.

If mine, I would start weighing a scale daily so you can accurately track her weight to see how much she's gaining.

Was solid earlier today but I did add more water to the feeding mix cause the other poops looked very normal but dryish
