System for meat quail

So I have about 7 quail that are my main flock of them. I plan on raising them for meat, but is there a system I should use for which birds to keep and not? I’ve been hatching their eggs and simply butchering those, but the main flock has some older females that are loosing momentum. Thanks in advance!

Kill the hens when done laying in spring and kill any unessacerry males.

I believe the standard is to replace your roo every six months or so, and replace your hens every year. I have noticed that the roo I've had for almost six months is not nearly as active with the girls as he was when I got him.
