About your art, yes I think you're being overly critical. XD I know what you mean though nothing ever turns out just right.

I think it's because, as the creator, we see the bad parts more. Whereas, everyone else sees the good parts more.

Honestly though. I’m proud of my art. And I’m not nearly as good as you. But I look up to you, TM.
I did practice a lot this year though. I think if you work hard at something you love, you tend to be more proud of it

Honestly, just drawing things you enjoy (and don't feel pressured by) helps a bunch. For example, you definitely end up remembering anatomy more when you draw a character you love. Or, at least, I usually do. XD

The biggest lie I was taught was that, to make "good art", you shouldn't have to use a reference. But, that's completely wrong, because even professional artists use references all the time.
So, don't feel bad about using a reference. Just make sure you're not exactly copying someone else's work, or anything like that, and you'll be fine.
